Kisan Sansad: Demand arose for legislation to guarantee MSP, Bill introduced

  • On the 10th day of the Parliament, there was a debate on the legal guarantee of MSP for farmers and all agricultural products.
  • After the members discussed all the aspects related to MSP, a bill was introduced in the Kisan Sansad.
  • This includes revamping of cost estimates, MSP formula at least 50 per cent above the C-2 cost of production, 50 per cent procurement guarantee, ensuring government intervention in the market.
  • During the debate, farmers' representatives supported this bill and highlighted the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.
