Supreme Court to hear Pegasus case on Thursday, the matter will be before CJI's bench

  • A two-judge Supreme Court bench will hear the petitions seeking a special investigation into the Pegasus scandal on Thursday.
  • The petition alleged that opposition leaders, journalists and others were spied on by Israeli spyware.
  • These petitions have been filed by senior journalist N Ram, CPM leader John Brittas and advocate ML Sharma.
  • The petitions filed have requested the apex court to direct the govt to disclose whether it has obtained a license for spyware or has used it to monitor anyone, directly or indirectly.
  • According to the petitioners, forensic examination analysis by Amnesty International's Security Lab has found that the phones of those listed as potential targets have been monitored.
