'Need to come together to defeat BJP': Mamata Banerjee meets Congress chief Sonia Gandhi
- West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Wednesday.
- This was the first meeting of the two leaders after the two parties fought against each other in the Bengal assembly elections in April-May this year.
- This meeting is being considered important in view of the efforts to unite the opposition against the BJP for the general elections of 2024.
- After the meeting, Mamata said that the need of the hour is to unite the opposition to defeat the BJP.
- Significantly, Bengal CM is on a five-day visit to Delhi. As part of her visit, she met senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Anand Sharma on Tuesday.
