Assam-Mizoram Conflict: Violence happened due to the quirk of ban on cow slaughter: CM Himanta

- He has urged Mizoram CM Zoramthanga to investigate how the civilians got bulletproof jackets and rifles to attack the police.
- Sarma said that his state would abide by any law passed by Parliament, saying the law would hand over its land to another state but would not allow "an inch of encroachment" until then.
- Sarma's remarks came a day after five Assam policemen and a civilian were killed in clashes along the border with Mizoram.
- The Chief Minister said all this at a press conference after paying tribute to the slain policemen.
