Farmer's Parliament: Security system tight, discussion on the functioning of market committees held on the first day

  • A group of 200 farmers agitating against agricultural laws for 8 months between winter and summer rains reached Jantar Mantar today, riding in buses and cars with police protection.
  • Amidst heavy security arrangements, the farmers organized a parallel parliament some distance away from the parliament, which started at 1:30 pm, about two and a half hours after the scheduled time.
  • On the first day, the functioning of the market committees was discussed in detail. The farmers' representatives again reiterated that they would not withdraw the agitation without repealing the farm laws.
  • They said, "If needed, the movement will continue till 2024. The Kisan Parliament ended around five in the evening and after that all the farmer representatives returned to the Singhu border."
  • Farmer leaders said, "The purpose of organizing Kisan Sansad is that the government can know that their movement against agricultural laws is still alive."
