
Pegasus report coming just a day before Parliament session no coincidence: Government
- The issue of spying through spyware Pegasus echoed in both the houses on the very first day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
- IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in the Lok Sabha that media reports related to espionage are an attempt to tarnish the image of Indian democracy.
- He said that just a day before the session of Parliament Reporting is no coincidence. He said that when the system of control and monitoring is already in place, then illegal surveillance is not possible.
- On the other hand, Congress has demanded a probe in this entire matter. Congress called for an independent investigation into the alleged tapping of phones of prominent personalities and journalists.
- Former party president Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this matter. "We know he is reading everything on your phone," he tweeted.
