Yogi government approves Kanwar Yatra, Supreme Court gives notice
- On the decision of the Yogi govt of UP to approve the Kanwar Yatra, the Supreme Court itself has given notice after taking cognizance.
- Justice Fali Nariman has given notice. The matter will be heard on Friday, July 16. The UP govt will present its side.
- While approving Kanwar Yatra amid the pandemic, the CM said that the protocol should be followed, although this does not appear to be possible in the case of religion.
- CM had asked the officials to issue guidelines after talking to the govt of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand.
- While the neighbouring state of Uttarakhand has decided not to allow Kanwar Yatra, CM Dhami said – people's lives are on priority.
