West Bengal: Mukul Roy elected as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the assembly, BJP objects
- Senior TMC leader Mukul Roy was today elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
- The Bharatiya Janata Party opposed his nomination, as Roy won the election on a BJP ticket.
- 20 MLAs, including Roy, had filed their nominations for the membership of the PAC on Wednesday.
- A PAC can have a maximum of 20 members. The nominations of all the 20 candidates were found valid and were elected unopposed.
- The BJP has strongly objected to Roy being elected as the president of the PAC. The party says that this post goes to the opposition.
