Shashi Tharoor lashes out at the Center over technical flaws in the new IT portal, said - 'created chaos'

  • Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor today targeted the Centre over technical difficulties in the new income tax portal.
  • He alleged that the govt was using it despite spending Rs 4200 crore on it. Failed to adapt and created chaos.
  • Tharoor said that a CA belonging to the All India Professional Congress informed him that the new changes made in the income tax portal were "very bad" and led to lapses in login.
  • He added, "Almost all features of the new portal are non-operational, so ITR filing, 15 CA/CB forms, data prep for appeals has ground2halt."
  • Shashi asked, " Why was the Portal switched at peak time when Income taxpayers usually file their returns & claim refunds? Why was no testing of the new Portal done before its launch?"
