SC's big order on migrant laborers- 'all states should implement 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme by July 31'

  • The Supreme Court has given a 'big order' regarding migrant workers, saying that all states should implement the One Nation One Ration Card scheme by July 2021.
  • Along with this, while directing the Centre to allocate additional food grains to the states, it has been said that the states should bring a scheme for the distribution of dry ration to the migrants.
  • It said that the states should run community kitchens for migrant workers till the end of the pandemic.
  • The order also states that the central govt and the state governments should complete the registration of all migrant laborers, including those in the unorganized sectors, by July 31, 2021.
  • SC has said that the states/UTs should register all the contractors at the earliest and ensure the registration of workers.
