After winning the election, another big victory for Akhil Gogoi! NIA Court acquits him in CAA Protest case
- Newly-elected Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi has been acquitted by the NIA court for taking part in the agitations against the CAA Act.
- It is known that in December 2019, there were large-scale protests in Assam against citizenship laws like CAA.
- Violence had erupted in many places during these protests. The agitator Akhil Gogoi was taken into custody, holding him responsible for these violent incidents.
- Senior journalist and media expert Prashant Tandon, tweeted, "Unless those who imposed UAPA without any concrete evidence will not be sent inside the jail and will not be sacked."
- "Till then these laws will continue to be misused and activists like Akhil Gogoi will continue to be victims of atrocities.", he further added.
