Violence had erupted in many places during these protests. The agitator Akhil Gogoi was taken into custody, holding him responsible for these violent incidents.
Senior journalist and media expert Prashant Tandon, tweeted, "Unless those who imposed UAPA without any concrete evidence will not be sent inside the jail and will not be sacked."
"Till then these laws will continue to be misused and activists like Akhil Gogoi will continue to be victims of atrocities.", he further added.
