- UN envoys have sent a report to the Indian govt criticizing the new IT law implemented by them in the country. The report said that these new laws can infringe on the privacy and freedom of digital media users.
- Experts from the UN Human Rights Commissioner's Office have expressed great concern about India's IT Act, 2021. They say that these laws are not made according to international rules.
- The report read, "We are concerned that these new laws come at a time when the pandemic is spreading across the world. And in your country also farmers are doing agitation on a large scale."
- It added, "In times like these, it becomes very important for citizens to have freedom of expression, right to information, and right to privacy."
- Along with this, the report also said that India is a global leader in technology. India has the power to make laws to protect digital rights. But this new law will do just the opposite.
