Kumbh: Devotees don't fear corona, rules being ignored, thousands gathered for a royal bath

  • On one hand, where Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in the country, on the other, thousands of devotees were seen gathered for the royal bath on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
  • Some of them also appeared without a mask for the world's largest religious fair, Kumbh, on 12th April. All the rules are being ignored here.
  • However, many devotees claim that the corona is no longer a major concern as the state govt has made the corona negative RT-PCR report mandatory for those visiting Haridwar.
  • During the royal bath today, the devotees and the saints representing 13 akharas will also take a dip in the Ganga.
  • Amid COVID 19 scare, the duration of Kumbh Mela has been reduced for the first time, which will run only from 1st to 30th April.
