Antilia case: CBI inquiry against Anil Deshmukh to continue, SC asks, What is wrong in this?
The Supreme Court has today cited the allegations of recovering Rs 100 crore every month on the former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The top court asked, "What is wrong in this, should such cases not be investigated by an independent investigating agency?"
The court refused to restrain or interfere in the investigation, saying that the CBI probe against Anil Deshmukh would continue.
Earlier, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Deshmukh and the Maharashtra govt. Sibal argued that an inquiry was ordered based on oral allegations. 'Where is the evidence in this case?'
The SC made it clear that there are big figures involved in the allegations. Therefore, an independent inquiry is necessary and both the petitions are dismissed.
