A COVID-19 patient who escaped from the Medical College at Thiruvananthapuram the other day, committed suicide after being taken back to the hospital, on Wednesday.
Anadu native Unni (33) had hanged himself inside the isolation ward using clothes around 11.30 am on Wednesday.
He was taken to the Intensive Care Unit but died soon after.
Health workers had stated that he contracted the virus after he went to Tamil Nadu to buy liquor.
They further stated that he had shown severe withdrawal symptoms during the past few days and was not cooperating with health workers at the hospital.
