Monsoon hits Kerala, Kozhikode on Red alert
- Several parts of the state received heavy to very heavy rains, especially Vatakara in Kozhikode, which received 15 cm of rain.
- Red alert has been declared in Kozhikode. The red alert denotes likelihood of very heavy to extremely heavy rain.
- While Vatakara received heavy rain, Quilandy, also in the district, received nine cm of rain.
- Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city also received six cm, while Ponnani in Malappuram district five cm.
- Kerala has been receiving heavy rains since the last few days as part of pre-summer showers and shutters of a few dams were opened.
