Release Omar Abdullah Soon: SC Orders Center
- The SC asked Centre if it plans to release former J&K CM Omar Abdullah from detention.
- The SC said, "If you are releasing Omar Abdullah release him soon, or we will hear his sister’s plea against his detention on merit."
- Omar Abdullah was in detention for six months after which the govt continued his detention and slapped PSA.
- Terming this decision as 'unconstitutional' Omar Abdullah's sister said it violated fundamental rights and filed a Habeas Corpus petition.
- Earlier this month, Omar's father, Farooq Abdullah, walked out of his residence 7 months after he was put under detention following the abrogation of Article 370 by the central government.
