SC To Decide If It Will Give Article 370 To a Larger Bench
- SC will decide today if petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, should be heard by a larger seven-judge bench.
- A five-judge Constitution bench presided by Justice N V Ramana had reserved its order on the reference of the case to a larger bench on January 23.
- Let us tell you, the central govt had scrapped Article 370 in August last year.
- After this, it ended special provisions accorded to J&K and bifurcated it into two union territories - J&K and Ladakh.
- At least 23 petitions have been filed in the SC challenging the central govt’s decision.
