SC Issues Notice to J&K on Plea challenging Omar Abdullah's detention
- The SC asked J&K administration and center to respond to the petition filed by Omar Abdullah's sister challenging the detention of her brother and former CM Omar Abdullah.
- They have asked the administration to respond by March 2nd as that is the next date of hearing.
- Earlier the SC turned down the plea of Abdullah's sister seeking early hearing of the case.
- After the meeting, Sara Abdullah, Omar's sister said, "We were hopeful that, as this is a habeas corpus case, the relief would be sooner. But we have full faith in the justice system."
- Let us tell you that Omar Abdullah was booked under PSA which allows authorities to detain a person without trial for a maximum period of two years.
