HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the JNU is an educational institution and that it should stick to its purpose.
After the meeting between the HRD and JNU officials, he said that educational institutions would not be permitted to become 'political hubs'.
He said, "These education institutions are for education and only education should happen there."

He further said, "Those responsible in the violence, action will be taken against them."
"However, institutions will now be allowed to become a hub of politics," the HRD minister further added.
