Helmet rule relaxation is temporary, says Rupani
- After being rapped by the road safety committee of the Supreme Court, the state government on Thursday clarified that relaxation of the rule for wearing helmets while riding was “temporary.”
- Chief minister Vijay Rupani said in Gandhinagar that the chief secretary will reply to the letter in due course of time.
- The road safety committee of the Supreme Court had sought an explanation from the Gujarat government for making helmets optional.
- In a letter addressed to the chief secretary, it issued directions to the state government to make helmets compulsory again for twowheeler riders.
- The chief secretary has received a letter from the council. The state government has not done away with any law. The helmet rule has only been temporarily suspended.
