Performance, not seniority will decide promotions, asserts CM

  • After warning government servants of action for their lethargic behaviour, Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday hinted that henceforth, it will be performance that will be considered for promotions in government departments.
  • Sawant told media persons that the government is working on a proposal to ensure that promotions of the officers are based on their performance and not on seniority.
  • “Promotions will be based on the performance of the officer. Performance does not mean how many hours he or she is working but what is their output and how best they are helping in the departmental works and progress,” he said.
  • “I am working on these lines to see that no more promotions are done on seniority basis,” the Chief Minister added.
