Vote counting footage played again in HC

The Gujarat high court raised several questions about the activities going on at the Dholka assembly’s counting centre after the video supplied by the returning officer Dhaval Jani was played in the courtroom again on Friday.
The video footage of the vote counting during the 2017 assembly elections was played during the hearing of an election petition filed by
Congress candidate Ashwin Rathod challenging education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama’s poll victory.
Justice Paresh Upadhyay expressed his dissatisfaction over the footage and raised doubts whether the video was really uncut and complete.

Jani is heard saying that he was revealing the election result ‘off the record’. The court questioned how the returning officer could have declared the result off the record, sources said.
