Transport minister on Traffic Penalties In Odisha
   - Padmanabha Behera made it clear that the penalties being collected under the new traffic rules would not be slashed.
  - “Why to reduce the penalties? This is a matter of safety of life and property of people,” the minister said.
  - On the question of other states reducing the tariffs, he said he doesn't know why they have reduced it and he feels it is not necessary.
  - Behera also informed that a high-level meeting on road safety will be held on December 18.
  - This meeting will be attended by Odisha DGP, chief secretary and officials of other departments in which a detail discussion on the New Motor Vehicle Act will be held.
