Transport minister on Traffic Penalties In Odisha

Padmanabha Behera made it clear that the penalties being collected under the new traffic rules would not be slashed.
“Why to reduce the penalties? This is a matter of safety of life and property of people,” the minister said.
On the question of other states reducing the tariffs, he said he doesn't know why they have reduced it and he feels it is not necessary.
Behera also informed that a high-level meeting on road safety will be held on December 18.
This meeting will be attended by Odisha DGP, chief secretary and officials of other departments in which a detail discussion on the New Motor Vehicle Act will be held.
