Will challenge order in power case: CM

  • A day after receiving a setback from the District and Sessions Court, the Goa government has decided to challenge the Arbitration Tribunal order asking the government to pay Rs 292 crore pending dues to Reliance Infrastructure for power supply. 
  • On Thursday, the North Goa District and Sessions Court had dismissed the State’s application challenging the Arbitration Tribunal order passed on February 16, 2018.
  • The Court has, however, granted a six-week stay on its own order to permit the State to appeal against it before the Bombay High Court at Goa. 
State calls on Centre to help boost tourism sector
  • Speaking to media persons on Friday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the government will challenge the order before the High Court, within six weeks. 
  • Reliance Infrastructure, the Anil Ambani-led company, had won an arbitration award of Rs 292 crore against the Government of Goa in a case relating to non-payment of dues for electricity supplied by the former.
