Manipur Hills Journalists’ Union observes 36th Foundation Day

The 36th Foundation Day of the Manipur Hills Journalists' Union (MHJU) was observed at Manipur Press Club in Imphal with members of hill journalists representing the hill districts of Manipur.
The programme was graced by Dr Lorho S Pfoze,  Lok Sabha MP as the chief guest, T Sangeeta, APO, DIPR, Manipur as the guest of honor and Ramkung Pamei, president of MHJU as the function president.
During the programme, the participants paid tributes to MHJU members who passed away. They were HA Lalrahlu, Editor, Shan Daily; John A Kungate, Editor, Sinlung Daily; Khupkholian Simte, Editor, Lenlai;  F Hrangzuala, Editor, Chhantiu, G; Thangchinlam, Editor, Thupuaktu; Muanthang, ISTV Correspondent; CCpur, Kamkhanthang Valte, Jt. Editor, Manipur Express; Zahmingliana, Editor, Chhantu; Joseph Joute, Co-Editor, Hmasawmna Thar;  Sangchatpaul, Joint Editor, Zoramthar and Abing Matthew, correspondent, The Cham Daily, Tamenglong.  
Meanwhile, Sothing Shimray, ex-president, MHJU, in his welcome note said that the MHJU was first started and founded in Churachandpur that later expanded to all the hill districts of Manipur.
Sothing then called the day as 'auspicious' for people who are ‘very sincere,’ dedicated, honest and hard-working 'yet very poor'. Welcoming the gathering, Shimray said that the programme was more inspired through the presence of many dignitaries and called a happy moment for the union. 
Speaking on the occasion, Tenshubam Sangeeta  informed the gathering about different facilities for the journalists of the state from the department through various welfare schemes. The APO of the DIPR then sought the "co-operation of all to ensure maximum service to all" from the department. 
Dr Lorho S Pfoze called the attention of all the journalists to give contribution in building relationships, to mend the differences and to showcase the facts what he termed as the "power of journalists." 
Also speaking on the occasion, Ramkung Pamei, president, MHJU, paid due regards to all former presidents of the union. He said that to run a union is not an easy job. The president said that journalists have a big role in bringing peace and development and urged all members to continue to serve the people.
