The farmers said that the land is a matter of "life and death" for them as it is the only source of their income. Despite the desperate appeal, the officer is seen walking away in the video without giving any assurance to the farmers.
In a separate video, the farmers Sattaiah, his brother Lingaiah and another farmer Mallaiah said their Pattadar passbook, which is a proof of their land ownership, was taken away from them and added that they were being harassed constantly.
Sattaiah could be heard saying that all of them have been running pillar to post for eight months to get the issue rectified but local officials have not cooperated with them. His brother Lingaiah added that they were even humiliated by local officials, who threatened to slap them and send them to jail.
This, however, is not the only cases of error that has emerged in Telangana over the past few months. Many other mistakes have been found in the land records that have been categorized online for better transparency. Some of the farmers also said that they are being forced to pay bribes to get the errors rectified.
