The YSRCP government is committed to ensuring the overall development of the State and not just the Capital, Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao has said.
Addressing the media here on Friday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao, however, parried questions on the controversy triggered by the statements made Municipal Administration Minister Botcha Satyanarayana over shifting of the Capital from Amaravati.
Stating that the government would abide by the wishes of the people, he said Mr. Satyanarayana only referred to corruption in acquisition of land for the Capital and the impact of floods in the region. Making an interesting observation, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said, “Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has constructed a house at Tadepalli in the Capital region. Why will he construct a house there if he wants to change the Capital?”
When asked why Mr. Reddy was not forthcoming in ending the confusion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said it was the prerogative of the Chief Minister to take policy decisions and announce them at the right time.
Accusing the TDP and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of trying to mislead the people on the issue, he said the YSRCP government was against corruption and not development.
