Atal Setu electric poles: Congress seeks probe into alleged kickbacks

The Congress party, on Sunday, gave a week’s time to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to probe into the alleged kickbacks received while purchasing the electric poles for Atal Setu, and urged the Chief Minister to bring the culprits to the book.

President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Girish Chodankar, addressing the media, said that the Chief Minister should blacklist the companies that are involved in corruption and sought clarity on the entire payment made for procurement of the electric poles. He said that the Congress is willing to render all help to the Chief Minister if he was really interested in curbing corruption and probing the alleged scam in the supply of poles. Chodankar said that a pole, costing Rs 72,750, was procured for a huge sum of Rs 1,53,000 while the cost of light fixtures was Rs 59,653, but payment to the tune of Rs 1,97,000 was made.
