CM: GSHC directed to provide vegetables at reasonable rates

The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday evening said that he has directed the Goa State Horticulture Corporation Ltd (GSHC) to provide vegetables at reasonable rates to people in the state during Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering after inaugurating a private cloth store in Bicholim.
He said that the government is fully aware of the soaring prizes of vegetables in the market which are expected to increase during Ganesh festival. Taking this matter into consideration people will be provided sufficient vegetables at low rates during festival by GSHC. The Chief Minister asked the Goan youth not to depend on government jobs for getting employed and added that youth should be inclined towards self–employment.
“The government is not in a position to provide jobs to all educated youth in the state. Dairy farming is an occupation which gives good earnings, however, youth are shying away from these occupations. Goan youth should change their attitude and take up self employment,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of dairy farming, the Chief Minister said that “state’s milk producing capacity is very less to meet the daily demands of the people. If youth start dairy farming with support of government’s schemes, at least 50 per cent milk needs of the state can be fulfilled.” North Goa ZP president Ankita Navelkar and Bicholim chairperson Satish Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion. Vice-chairperson Gurudatta Pal, councillors Ajeet Birje, Rama Naik, industrialist Vallabh Salkar, Sagar Shetye and others were present on the occasion.
