BJP attacks Telangana govt on power policy

BJP on Thursday said the recent call by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for a national power policy, was “a diversionary tactic”. Telangana BJP president K Laxman alleged that the State was plagued by constant tripping of power supply. “This is the situation in villages, any farmer will vouch for it,” he said.
He also said the government pushed the power utilities into losses totalling Rs 20,000 crore, and that it owed them Rs 10,000 crore. “The government says if a village does not pay its power bills, the sarpanch and village secretary will lose their jobs. Shouldn’t the same yardstick be applied to the government?” he asked.
