Manik Sarkar meets slain CPI (M) worker’s family, slams govt
Former chief minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday slammed BJP-led Tripura government for “complete breakdown in law and order” in the state.
“There is no rule of law in Tripura under the BJP government. All kinds of crime are at peak across the state and several incidents of murder are being reported. It is extremely unfortunate,” Sarakar told reporters at Agartala Medical College Hospital here.
The former chief minister visited the hospital to meet the CPI (M) supporters who were injured in an alleged attack by BJP supporters at Nabin Para in Amtali area.
One CPI (M) leader was killed and eight others were seriously injured when the BJP supporters allegedly attacked them in their house on Sunday night.
The slain CPI (M) leader has been identified as Nakul Saha. Saha’s mother, wife and other members of his family were seriously injured in the brutal attack.
Sarkar also paid a visit to the family members of killed party worker Saha at Nabin para.
The Left party leader said that Saha was the sole breadwinner of the family.
“Who will take responsibility of the family now as he was the sole breadwinner of the family,” Sarkar said.
The CPI (M) has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the attack.
Police, however, have made no arrest so far.
