CM sets the ball rolling for setting up State Aayog

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has set the ball rolling for the setting up of the State Aayog on the lines with State Niti Aayog. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had announced this in his budget speech. A notification issued by Department of Planning Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation  states that the government is pleased to constitute a committee for formation of State Aayog i.e. State Institute for Transforming-Goa (SIT-Goa) with immediate effect.

Chief Secretary will be the chairman of the committee while Secretary (Planning) will be the member secretary.  Principal Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Daulat A Hawaldar, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Finance, Nila Mohanan, IAS, Education Secretary, Goa University Vice-Chancellor, Goa Institute of Management Director, BITS Pilani-Goa Director, and Representative of NITI Aayog not below the rank of DDG or equivalent, will be the committee members. 
The notification further states that the main objective of the committee is to create appropriate institutional mechanism to address issues which cause delay in execution of the projects. The functions of the committee shall be to identify the  key development priorities of the State, vision, strategies and programme management frameworks, steps to align with national objectives and priorities, strategic and emerging areas that need long-term investment for transformative and sustainable social impact, to study and define human resource and technology capabilities that need to be created to drive an organization of this nature, to estimate budgetary resources that need to be earmarked for functional and operational requirements.
