The much-awaited Mawlai by-pass which is expected to ease traffic congestion in Shillong city, was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Saturday.
Sangma also inaugurated the Mawkynroh Police Outpost here today.
“With the opening and implementation of the Bypass, traffic congestion in Shillong city should be eased to a considerable extent,” said the Chief Minister.
While expressing his gratitude to all who donated land for the two projects, Conrad said, he would also acknowledge the contribution of all those who were a part it.
He also added that while government and its different departments do their part, the society also has a big role in maintaining the assets and infrastructures that have been created. “Whether it is maintaining things, maintaining law and order or curbing anti social activities if society also gives a helping hand it will make a big difference,” he said.
