‘BJP will be a formidable force in State by 2024’

The BJP will spread its base and gain strength on its own to emerge as a trusted and formidable force in the State by the 2024 elections, says party State president Kanna Lakshminarayana. “The BJP will not enter into an alliance with any party, including the TDP, as it has been a victim of such understandings,” Mr. Lakshminarayana said here on Saturday. He was speaking at a programme organised to celebrate the abrogation of Article 370, which ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Air of positivity
“There is an air of positivity towards the BJP across the country because of certain historic decisions it has taken at the Centre. The names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will remain etched in the memory of Indian history for the bold measures they have taken to strengthen the country,” he observed.
“Even in Andhra Pradesh, the situation has changed for the better for the BJP. Noted leaders from all parties, which included the TDP and the YSRCP, are joining the saffron party. It is an indication that the BJP will play a key role in the State politics in the near future,” Mr. Lakshminarayana said. Later, at a meeting at the party office, former Congress MLA from Harischandrapuram K. Appala Narasimha Bhukta joined the BJP in the presence of Mr. Lakshminarayana. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhukta said he was impressed by the decisions taken by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and decided to serve the party.
