Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who is one of the most vocal critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, praised the government for its decision to effectively scrap Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. In a tweet, Raj said that the government’s decision to scrap Article 370 was ‘exceptional’. “After a long time, the Central Govt makes an exceptional decision!,” Raj tweeted.
Over the year, Raj has slammed the Modi-Shah duo on various fronts, even accusing them of taking the country towards dictatorship. Despite managing to woo huge cowards at his anti-BJP rallies, packed with data and fact checking videos, the MNS factor didn’t play a part in the state as the Shiv Sena-BJP combine swept the Lok Sabha elections, virtually wiping out the Congress-NCP led coalition. Raj held 11 massive rallies across the state, including three in Mumbai, but the MNS factor didn’t click at all with the Congress-NCP failing to win even a single seat in Mumbai.Article 370 : सीएम योगी आदित्यनाथ के करीबी भाजपा विधायक ने जताई कश्मीर में जमीन खरीदने की इच्छा
The Shiv Sena-BJP combine won in seven out of the 11 locations where Raj held rallies. However, the MNS is still hopeful of pulling off a surprise in the Assembly Elections slated for October. Just last week, Raj was part of an all opposition party front against EVMs, where they demanded that EVMs be junked and asked the EC to revert to ballot papers. The opposition announced an anti-EVM morcha in the city on August 21. Other opposition parties have also vowed to carry out the signature campaign.
