New primary health centre in Curtorim soon: MLA

Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday informed that a new primary health centre premises will be constructed in Curtorim shortly. Briefing media persons on the land were the leprosy hospital exists, he said the owners had donated nearly 1 lakh sq mts for a specific purpose to set up a leprosy treatment centre so that the patients could be isolated and treated as at that time leprosy was a dreaded disease. The people of Curtorim have also asked for a small area in a corner for garbage segregation, he said while objecting to the government’s plan to give the land to Indian Reserve Battalion to have their quarters there.
PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE
He said despite taking remedial measures there was leakage at the Curtorim Primary Health Centre. The MLA said he would attend to it after monsoons. However, he said the government has sanctioned Rs 12 crore for constructing a new premises for the primary health centre and the same will be tendered shortly. He admitted that the 108 ambulance commissioned recently is having some teething problem as EMRI that manages it has some staff issues.
ELECTRICITY
He said the electricity situation in his constituency will improve soon as 9 new transformers will be installed shortly. Besides, he said one of the transformers at the Raia Sub-Station will be upgraded which will improve the power situation in the constituency.
ROADS 
Taking pride in the fact that the roads in Curtorim constituency are better than in other places, he disclosed that potholes will be filled up soon. Besides other road works will be undertaken as Rs 20 crore worth road works have been tendered.
