Vishwajit vows to improve cancer treatment for women

Stating that the number of cancer cases particularly cases of breast cancer in women is on the rise, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that he is working towards offering special medical facilities for the benefit of women suffering from life-threatening diseases like cancer. 
Rane also said that the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim has been accorded 23rd rank among 70 government hospitals in India for which he credits the GMC employees including the doctors.
Rane was speaking at a medical camp organised by Phoenix Women’s Wing Self-Help Group (PWWSHG) in association with the directorate of Health Services and GVK EMRI at Nanus-Valpoi.
Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) chairperson Akhtar Shah, vice-chairperson Parveen Khan and councillors Sayyad Sarfaraz and Ramdas Shirodkar, Phoenix Socio-Cultural Association president Abdulla Khan, it women’s wing president Shuneza Khan, CHC medical officer Dr Sham Kankonkar, Dr Lalita Umraskar, Dr Aroan Suaris, Dr Kartika and other doctors were also present on the occasion.
Rane further said that the medical facilities at the Valpoi community health centre have been upgraded adding, “I’ll ensure that all the necessary medical facilities are available at Valpoi CHC and people from Sattari are not forced to visit GMC for health-related issues as our government is committed to serve the public in the larger interest.”
