Cong demands CBI probe into sale deeds executed after March 2016

The Congress has demanded a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the sale deeds registered after March 2016 as well as freezing the properties falling within 500 metres of the coastal line. In a letter to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, party leader Trajano D’Mello has alleged nexus between the government and the land sharks into the preparation of the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP). He also questioned the delay in preparing the plan.
“This nexus of members of your government and land sharks whose sale deeds are registered after the work order dated March 29, 2016 were issued to prepare the CZMP should be investigated by the CBI. I demand immediate freezing of all sale deeds for the properties falling within 500 mtrs of coastal line including grant of any new approvals till new CZMP is notified to avoid further destruction,” he said addressing a press conference on Sunday, after submitting the letter to the CM and all the agencies concerned.
D’Mello also pointed to how demarcation of new high tide line and low tide line which forms a part of the draft CZMP was not followed by the Department of Environment, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority and National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management.
“These lines are drawn at the instance of land owners to shift lines away from the land, that is, towards sea and river. This gives ample scope to them to develop additional land and to do so again hefty sums are exchanged,” he alleged.
Seeking quick action, the Congress leader said it would prove CM’s credentials that he is out to clear corruption and bring culprits of the past and present to book under the law. D’Mello also demanded investigation into the delay in preparing the plan, HTL demarcations, inaccuracies as well as errors.
