Minister blames NGOs for stopping mining

The Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral, on Friday, accused the NGOs for stopping mining and assured that he would himself stop the mining later if the mining companies do not absorb the retrenched workers. The mining dependents from Bicholim met the minister on Friday and pressed their demand to resolve the issue. The minister said that the government is after the Central government to resolve the issue as early as possible.
He blamed the earlier government and some of the NGOs for stopping mining and assured that they would resolve this issue in the interest of the people.  “It is the NGOs who have stopped the mining and we are working on the solution to it,” Cabral said. He assured that all the stakeholders would be taken care of and mining would surely start.
“It is likely that the mining companies would be given the chance to restart it but if they do not absorb the same workers I would stand against that mining company. I would see to it that the mining company is closed,” he added.
