CM Gehlot directs officials to prepare contingency plan in advance for rain deficit

In a high-level meeting organized at Chief Minister's residence in Jaipur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reviewed the drinking water supply, availability of water in reservoirs and sowing of Kharif crop. During the meeting, he directed the chief secretary of disaster management to assess the need for contingency after discussing with different departments and district collectors.
CM Gehlot instructed the concerned departments to be prepared with the emergency arrangements in view of the delay in the rain. He said that the concerned department should prepare a contingency plan for the drinking water and livestock fodder.
They should also complete the required procedures and financial sanction in advance. Underlining the importance of agriculture, Gehlot said that the agriculture department should encourage farmers to sow such crops which require less water and time to grow and so they don't have to depend on rain completely.
