Congress picks holes in the new Municipal Act

Congress Kisan Cell national vice chairman M Kodanda Reddy on Saturday criticised the new Municipal Act and said it is full of loopholes. He alleged that there was no comprehensive discussion on the bill. Addressing the media, he said the government did not bother about the Urban Development Authorities like HMDA. He said as most of the responsibilities have been given to the Collectors, delay may take place in implementing the works. Already the Collectors are reeling under pressure due to several responsibilities. He said nothing has been said about the Real Estate Regulatory Authority in the Act. No mention has been made in the Act about the master plans of the cities and towns.
