Govt to start filling over 5,000 vacancies

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the government will shortly start filling over 5,000 posts sanctioned by the administrative reforms departments/inter-departmental committee of officers (IDCO).
Admitting that during the past two years the recruitment in government departments as well as state corporations has not taken place as it should have, Sawant said the administrative reforms department/IDCO have already approved a total of 5,072 posts for the government departments/corporations, and now it is up to these departments/corporations to create and advertise the same to start the recruitment process.
The Chief Minister, who also handles administrative reforms portfolio, said that a total of 70 proposals have been received for creation of posts from various departments/corporations for year 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Answering a related question from Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo during the question hour on the opening day of the monsoon session of the state legislative assembly, he said that there are around 55,000 employees in the service of the state government and at the most another 8,000 to 10,000 employees can be recruited in the government departments/ corporations.
