‘BJP will strive to end caste discrimination’

BJP Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) affairs co-in charge Sunil Deodhar said the Narendra Modi regime would strive to politically empower the Scheduled Castes (SC) community in the State. “The SC community has been considered a votebank by all political parties. The Narendra Modi regime shall empower the community politically and is committed to ending caste discrimination. Each Dalit worker in the party should enrol 1,000 people from their communities as members,” Mr. Deodhar said.
Addressing a BJP SC Morcha State executive meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Deodhar said the BJP was the only party that honoured Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s philosophy. Mr. Deodhar claimed the Modi government is doing its best to ensure the welfare of SCs and render them social justice.
“The Scheduled Castes reposed their trust in Congress for decades, but it always exploited them at the time of elections and never really made any effort thereafter to alleviate their plight,” he said.
Mr. Deodhar added that the BJP was poised to become stronger in Andhra Pradesh in the coming five years and said it would fight against parties that have flourished on the basis of caste. BJP State vice-president Dara Sambaiah, SC Morcha national secretary D.C. Rosaiah and State president I. Sunil Kumar were among those present.
