Union budget focuses on creating new India: CM

Welcoming the Union budget, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said the budget document has concentrated on creating a new India and helping all citizens fulfil their aspirations.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman presented the budget in the Parliament.
Sawant said the Modi government has put focus on the development of villages and the upliftment of the poorest of the poor and farmers.
The Union budget has also prioritised on employment generation   and empowerment of women, he reckoned.
He hoped that Goa would be chosen as one

of the 17 iconic tourism destinations, which will be promoted as ‘world class iconic sites’.
“The Union budget has also extended support to the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, agriculture, infrastructure and agro-rural entrepreneurship,” he added.
When reminded of the mining package sought by the state from the Centre during the pre-budget consultations meeting chaired by Sitharaman, Sawant got around  the probing question saying  that since it was the Union budget there cannot be a state-specific provision.
However, he expressed hope that the central government will fulfil the demands of the state government on mining, tourism, Mopa airport and others.
