TRS surveys prospects in municipal polls

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti is said to have taken up a survey on its prospects in ensuing municipal elections in the wake of conflicting results in Assembly and Parliament elections.
After an overwhelming victory in Assembly elections across the State, the party feels it did not get satisfactory mandate of voters in Parliament polls three months later -- and, as a result, lost seven seats. It was found that the public response was negative even in urban areas where the TRS won.
The scene was reversed in elections to Mandal and Zilla Parishads as the party swept the polls. In a bid to understand the reasons for volatile voting pattern of public, the TRS embarked on an exercise to find out whether nationalism worked in favour of BJP in Parliament elections when it won four seats and, if it was so, the reasons for Congress also wresting three seats.
Therefore, the TRS decided to launch the survey to know if people had any misgivings about the government, sources said.
