Govt declares land acquisition for Hybrid IT Park

The government on Thursday declared 12,455 square metres of land in Penha-de-Franca village in Porvorim for the proposed Hybrid IT Park project.
The project that was announced a year ago in June 2018 is slated to come up on two plots of land measuring 8,382 sq mt and 4,073 sq mt bearing survey numbers 172/0 and 128/1 in the village.
The Infotech Coporation of Goa (ITG), which is the implementing agency for the project, has been given the responsibility of dealing with occupants of the proposed notified area by way of collection of fees, levy, taxes, etc.
The notification, signed by D P Nato, director and ex-officio, joint secretary, IT, states that collection of taxes, fees etc by the local panchayat shall cease and the panchayat will be reimbursed to the extent of five-year period, as per the government rules.
The Hybrid IT cluster aims at boosting information technology in the state. The project is expected to have IT-related and mixed-use facilities such as ‘Plug and Play’, ‘Warm Shell’, quality ‘Incubation’ space, facilities for ‘mixed commercial’ activities and all other facilities and is likely to be developed with the help of a consultant.
It will also have facilities like office space with ready-to-use facilities, conference rooms, digital library, cafeteria, retail/multi-use commercial space, pedestrianised park, recreational activities and other associated support facilities and services.
Besides declaring the proposed acquisition of 12,455 sq mt of land in Porvorim, the government also announced 4.49 lakh sq mt land for the integrated IT township in Chimbel. The integrated township is a part of the Chimbel IT Park, which is being developed in phases.
Around ten acres of land in the park is for a start-up village for which the government has already appointed design consultants.
