Karnataka government plans grand Kempe Gowda Jayanti on June 27

The State government will celebrate Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Jayanti on a grand scale at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday, said Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also vice-chairman of the Kempe Gowda Development Authority.
Speaking after chairing a preparatory meeting on the celebrations, he said various associations would march from the four Kempe Gowda towers on Thursday. The ‘Kempe Gowda Jyoti’ will also be brought from the Kempe Gowda Memorial at Madagi to congregate at Freedom Park, from where it will be taken in a procession to the Vidhana Soudha.
“There is a demand from various associations to institute an award in the name of Kempe Gowda on the lines of the Rajyotsava award. As of now, the BBMP has already instituted one. We will discuss this and take a decision,” he said.
