Minister promises project to solve water crisis in Palnadu

The State government would soon come out with a comprehensive project to solve the drinking water crisis in Palnadu, Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita has said.
Addressing the last general body meeting of the zilla parishad here on Sunday, the Minister made it clear that solving the water crisis in the parched lands of Palnadu was high on the agenda of the government.
Stating that the depleted storage levels in the Nagarjuna Sagar project were always a cause for concern, Ms. Sucharita said that the farming season had begun and stressed the need for immediate supply of seeds and fertilizers by the Agricultural Department. The general body meeting ratified the budget for ₹1,066 crore and also gave the nod for the merger of schools in villages that have been merged with the Guntur Municipal Corporation.
It was the first ZP general body meeting since the formation of the new government. Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy demanded that the district administration investigate all allegations related to corruption in the Mangalagiri Assembly segment. The Home Minister promised a detailed probe into all allegations related to land allotments in district. Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy also echoed the feeling and alleged that massive corruption had taken place in implementation of various projects.
