The police have booked a BJP functionary and his son under the Goondas Act. They were arrested last month following the death of a juvenile whom they had brutally attacked in Nagalkeni, near Chrompet.
The police said the victim Vignesh, 16, and Nandha, 19, we're going to attend a church festival in Nagalkeni on a bike. They questioned Nithyanandham, 22, who was sitting on the road and tore his shirt after a quarrel. Nithyanandham’s father Madhan, 44, a BJP functionary, joined his son and they attacked the youth with a knife and an iron rod.
Vignesh succumbed to injuries two days later. On May 20, the Sankar Nagar police arrested Nithyanandham and Madhan.
